CES SUMMER 2009 FIELD COLLECTING TRIP

On Sunday, 6 August 2009, 13 members of the Connecticut Entomological Society met for a summer field collecting excursion at a 20-acre woodland property owned by CES member Dr. Leonard Munstermann.  The property contains a range of habitats from dry ridge crests to river floodplain, and it is situated near a state forest and large tracts of undisturbed forest.  No systematic collections had been conducted at this site before.  A variety of interesting insects and other organisms were collected and/or documented, including a systematic count of soil arthropods.  Weather conditions were excellent, and hamburgers on the grill capped off the day's collecting very well.

The photos below were taken by Bill Krinsky, Dave Marshall, and Kathy Hill.
