- FOSSIL HUNT – Led by Massachusetts
geologist Bob Sproule and Patrick Getty (EEB Dep., UConn).
- MEETING
TIME: 10 AM
LIMIT: of 12, No children under 16, Please RSVP to the Society President, Roberta Engel.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no fee, and people can generally keep what they
collect - but would insist that a scientifically important find be
donated to Patrick's and Bob's research.
BRING: a short handle hand sledge [carpenters hammers or long handle,
8-20 pound sledges are too ineffective and dangerous vis a vis flying
shards, respectively], chisel, small pry bar, and paper for wrapping
specimens. Perhaps a sandwich, snack, or thermos would be good.
Dress in anticipation of cold.
DIRECTIONS: From the intersection of Rt. 95 and 495 in Mansfield, MA,
take Rt.495 North [West] about 3.5-4 miles to the Rt.1A exit in
Wrentham. At bottom of ramp, turn left onto 1A and proceed 0.3
miles to Mobil station on left. Snacks, rest rooms, etc.
Roberta will be there at 10 AM.
